Nortel Networks phone systems are among the best in breed phone systems availble for businesses today. Nortel consists of two major familes of phone systems. The NORSTAR and the BCM VoiP HYBRID phone system.

The NORSTAR phone systems have been in the marketplace since 1989 and are tried and true system. They provide the vast majority of features desired by most businesses. These features include features such as :

The Norstar phone system group consists of three main phone systems. The 3x8, CICS and MICS. All Norstar phone systems share the exact same telephones and voicemail systems.

Th 3x8 is one of the least sought. It has no caller id support is not expandable.

The CICS comes with or without caller id cards. It usually ships 4x16 although it is possible to buy it with restricted 4x8 software (most of the time unbeknownist to the customer). It is expandable to to a total of 8 phone lines and a total of 24 telephone sets.

The MICS comes ready to operate 32 telephones and leaves you the option of line connectivity via analog FXS or digital T-1 / PRI. The phone system is then further expandable to approximately 272 ports avialable for either phone lines or telephones to split however you need. Using fiber expansion cards and cabinets, the user can connect up to 12 individual expansion cabinets to the MICS for various uses. This option makes the MICS a very powerful choice for businesses that need growth in small bits. The MICS can be operated in PBX mode or KEY SYSTEM mode.

The Norstar phone systems share the same set of digital telephones. These consist of the :
NEW : T7316e, T7208, T7100, T7406 Cordless and T24 Addon Module
OLD : M7324, M7310, M7208, M7100, KLM DSS and BLF.

The M Series Norstar phones were discontinued some years ago and was replace by the t series phones. All phones are backware compatible.

The T7316e is the main stay desk phone that most users like. It has feature keys for voicemail and it has enough buttons to cover most applications for the number of lines and stations in an office.

The T7208 is an 8 button phone most commonly found in warehouses and guest areas. The T7100 is a small, stylish single line phone great for guests and kitchens.
